Security chief: Armenia aims to meet 30% of military needs through domestic production
Armenia has set a goal to produce 30% of its military-technical equipment domestically, according to Secretary of the Security Council Armen Grigoryan.
Speaking at the second World Armenian Summit, Grigoryan highlighted the country's growing military-industrial capabilities, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.
Grigoryan noted that the volume of orders for products from Armenia’s military-industrial complex has increased 100-fold compared to 2020.
While acknowledging challenges in the sector, he expressed confidence that both the military-industrial complex and the private sector would be able to manage this significant increase in production.
Head of the Parliamentary Commission on Defence, Andranik Kocharyan, also addressed the summit, pointing out that Armenia is now producing weapons that were previously unimaginable for the country, such as multiple rocket launchers.
Kocharyan emphasized that Armenia used to only repair military equipment, but the current logistical challenges have made the localization of production a vital and necessary decision.
