Senate speaker: Kazakhstan does not violate Western sanctions against Russia
Kazakhstan is not involved in circumventing sanctions of Western states against Russia.
Chairman of the Senate of Kazakhstan Maulen Ashimbayev said this, commenting on Astana's position regarding compliance with Western states' sanctions against Russia.
"We do not violate the sanctions of Western states. We will not allow the use of our country's territory and companies to circumvent sanctions. This is Kazakhstan's clear position," Ashimbayev said, as quoted by Kazinform.
In this regard, he also recalled that the country's position has been repeatedly voiced by both the head of state and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan.
"Within the framework of this position we will work further. First of all, we take steps in foreign policy that meet national interests. Taking into account important issues relating to the national interests of the country, we initiate appropriate initiatives and pursue appropriate policies," said the chairman of the Senate.
