Senior Iranian lawmaker accuses US of violating ceasefire

The head of the Iranian parliament's National Security Commission, Ebrahim Azizi, accused the United States of violating a ceasefire by carrying out an attack on Iran during negotiations, saying the move demonstrated Washington's lack of commitment to diplomacy.

In a post on X, Azizi wrote: “The U.S. attacked Iran in the middle of negotiations once again. The failed U.S. President has shown he has no commitment to the principles of negotiation or a ceasefire," Caliber.Az reports.

He added: “This reckless violation of the ceasefire will, as always, lead to retreat and regret on their part. The blame game does not work anymore.”

The United States launched limited strikes on Iranian military targets around the Strait of Hormuz on June 26 in what it said was a response to Tehran's attack on a commercial cargo vessel.

Six U.S. military aircraft struck radar installations and a warehouse reportedly used to store missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in the area.

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps later said it had targeted U.S. military positions in the region in retaliation.
