Serbia arrests two on suspected plot to assassinate President Vučić
Two men have been arrested in the Serbian city of Kraljevo on suspicion of plotting an assassination attempt against Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, his wife and children, as well as planning attacks against the Interior Ministry employees.
Officers from the Interior Ministry in Kraljevo, acting in cooperation with Serbia’s Security and Information Agency (BIA), detained D.R. (born in 1975) and M.R. (born in 1983), both residents of the city. The two are suspected of conspiring to commit crimes against the constitutional order and security of Serbia, Caliber.Az quotes Serbian media.
According to investigators, between December 2025 and February 2026 the suspects allegedly planned a violent change of power and the overthrow of the country’s highest state authorities. Authorities claim the pair agreed to procure weapons and carry out attacks against the president, his wife and children, as well as against Interior Ministry officials, whom they intended to physically harm.
The suspects have been placed in custody for 48 hours. Following the expiration of the detention period, they are expected to be brought before the Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office in Kraljevo.
The investigation remains ongoing.
