Severe bus crash leaves nine dead in Türkiye
09 August 2024 10:26
Türkiye's Ankara Governor Vasip Sahin has said that a bus accident occurred in Ankara, resulting in nine fatalities and 26 injuries of varying severity.
The incident took place at around 05:00 (GMT+3), Sahin told Turkish media, Caliber.Az reports.
The bus was travelling from Ankara to Eskisehir when, for unknown reasons, it veered off the road and crashed into a support pillar of a railway viaduct. The police are investigating the cause of the accident.
Bus accidents are fairly common in Türkiye.
In May, 10 people died and 40 were injured when a bus, two cars and a truck collided on a highway near the southern city of Mersin.
