Severe frosts set to grip Kazakhstan in coming days Forecasters predict –35°C
Kazakhstan’s meteorological service has released the weather forecast for the coming days, from December 9 to 11, warning that severe frosts are approaching, NUR.KZ reports citing the state weather forceaster Kazhydromet.
Forecasters noted that after an unusually warm autumn, residents will feel the first real breath of winter. On December 9, a fast-moving northern anticyclone is expected to sweep into the country’s northwestern and northern regions.
“Fueled by cold air masses, it will bring an end to precipitation and a sharp drop in temperatures — first across the northern half of the country and then throughout all of Kazakhstan,” the forecast said.
Night-time temperatures in the northern regions are expected to fall to –22…–30°C, in the east to –27…–35°C, and in the south and southeast to –10…–20°C.
