Nursultan Nazarbayev International Airport in Astana, Kazakhstan, issued an important notice to passengers on January 12, 2026, following severe weather hitting the city.
Airport officials assured travellers that “the aerodrome service is operating in an enhanced mode under difficult meteorological conditions,” Caliber.Az reports via Kazakh media.
“All necessary equipment is in use to ensure flight safety and the stable operation of the airport. We are doing everything possible to maintain the schedule and ensure flights operate without disruptions,” the airport press service said.
Flight schedules have been affected, with six arrivals delayed:
KC 584 Sanya – Astana,
DV 784 Ust-Kamenogorsk – Astana,
IQ 400 Aktobe – Astana,
FS 7316 Kyzylorda – Astana,
IQ 438 Petropavlovsk – Astana,

Authorities noted that storm warnings have been issued across all regions and major cities of Kazakhstan and urged passengers to plan their travel carefully, considering weather conditions and possible schedule changes.
Earlier, meteorologists warned of temperatures dropping to −27°C. Overnight on January 12, heavy snowfall hit the capital, prompting the city administration to advise caution and safety compliance. Some schools shifted to remote learning due to the extreme weather.
