Severe weather leaves bus carrying Russians stranded in Kazakhstan
A bus carrying 46 passengers was stranded on a highway in Kazakhstan’s Akmola Region after travel restrictions were imposed due to severe weather conditions, according to Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Emergency Situations, as reported by Kazakh media.
The incident occurred in the Yesil district, where the bus was stopped at a checkpoint because the road had been closed amid adverse weather. Emergency services, working in coordination with police and local executive authorities, escorted the passengers to the nearest warming facilities.
All 46 evacuees, including one child, were Russian citizens. The ministry said that none of the passengers required medical assistance.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations advised motorists to take storm warnings into account and to avoid travelling outside populated areas if weather conditions worsen.
