Six Kazakh citizens arrested for stealing cargo on China–Europe railway
Police in Kazakhstan have detained six residents of Almaty and East Kazakhstan regions who systematically stole goods from the international China–Europe railway line, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The total value of the stolen goods exceeded 212 million tenge (approximately $421,806), Caliber.Az reports via Kazakh media.
From August 2024 to April 2025, the suspects broke into containers and removed items, including baby strollers, surveillance cameras, auto parts, and other products. The crimes occurred on Kazakh territory.
“In April last year, transport police apprehended all members of the group. Investigations confirmed their involvement in four thefts. The damage caused to cargo owners was fully compensated,” the Ministry said.
The court found all six guilty and sentenced each to four years of restricted freedom.
