Some 50,000 passengers to celebrate holiday on trains in Kazakhstan
Around 50,000 passengers are expected to welcome the New Year aboard trains across Kazakhstan, according to the national railway operator Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ).
KTZ will deploy extensive personnel to ensure uninterrupted rail operations during the holiday period. A total of 1,685 freight train drivers, 357 passenger train drivers, and 698 workers involved in maintenance and shunting operations will be on duty, Caliber.Az reports via Kazakh media.
Railway stations nationwide will operate 122 ticket offices, including 40 that will remain open overnight on January 1. More than 1,600 conductors will accompany passengers travelling during the festive night.
KTZ noted that station duty officers, information desk staff, dispatchers, track maintenance workers, and other specialists will continue working through the holiday. For many railway employees, celebrating the New Year on duty has become a long-standing professional tradition.
