South Caucasus’ first “Disneyland-style” park coming to Tbilisi
Tbilisi is set to become home to a major amusement park comparable to global giants like Disneyland, marking the first of its kind in both Georgia and the broader South Caucasus region, according to Tbilisi mayor Kakha Kaladze.
The ambitious entertainment complex will be constructed within the dendrological park adjacent to the new zoo near the Tbilisi Sea, a 160-hectare area known for its rich biodiversity and recreational appeal.
“This territory offers unique recreational potential and biodiversity that attract both locals and visitors. We have decided to develop a grand-scale amusement park here that will have no analogues in the region,” Mayor Kaladze stated, according to Georgian press, cited by Caliber.Az.
The design of the park will draw inspiration from world-renowned amusement parks such as Disneyland and Legoland. It will feature multiple themed zones, including children’s areas, extreme adventure sections, and family-friendly spaces. The facility will also offer dining options, retail outlets, recreation centres, and venues for events.
Kaladze highlighted the involvement of businessman Bidzina Ivanishvili’s family — the founder of the ruling Georgian Dream Party — and the Kartu Charitable Foundation in supporting the project’s construction.
Preservation of the park’s green environment will be a priority, with plans to maintain existing vegetation and plant new trees and plants. The project will also include the development of all necessary infrastructure to enhance the area.
“I am confident that, due to its scale and diversity, this amusement park will become a major attraction not only for Georgian residents but also for tourists from various countries,” Kaladze added.
The mayor also indicated that many more significant and essential projects are planned for the capital in the coming years, with backing from financial institutions and the government.
