Speaker: Armenia and Azerbaijan function as mutual security guarantors

Speaker of Armenia’s National Assembly Alen Simonyan has stated that Azerbaijan is Armenia’s primary security guarantor, while Armenia similarly serves as a guarantor of security for Azerbaijan.

Responding to opposition criticism that Armenia requires an external security guarantor, Simonyan argued that the two neighbouring countries effectively provide reciprocal stability, Caliber.Az reports via Armenian media.

He further noted that various actors are seeking to involve Armenia and Azerbaijan in military confrontations against one another, although he did not specify who he was referring to.

Simonyan offered no additional details on his remarks.
