Speaker: Trump administration should restore ties with Georgia
Georgia’s authorities hope to rebuild a strategic partnership with the United States, Speaker of the Georgian Parliament Shalva Papuashvili said.
Papuashvili stated that the previous US administration harmed Georgia’s relations with the American side, Caliber.Az reports per Georgian media.
“We expect that, in addition to working meetings and other contacts, the strategic partnership with the United States will be fully restored. It is not our fault; it was the previous administration [Biden administration] that damaged relations between the United States and the Georgian people and Georgia, a country that stood by NATO and the United States under the most difficult conditions to ensure global security,” Papuashvili noted.
Meanwhile, Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze said the city is ready, meetings have taken place, and progress will positively impact the country and its international image.
These remarks follow intensified dialogue between Georgia and the US this week, which included three meetings — two in Washington and one in Milan.
