Spokesperson: US actions pushing Iran towards response
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said Tehran and Washington are exchanging messages over a draft memorandum that could include provisions for financial compensation for war-related damage and broader reconstruction efforts.
In a Telegram statement, Baghaei said the proposed framework under discussion envisages several financing options for rebuilding infrastructure damaged during the conflict.
“One of the items in the memorandum is the creation of the necessary conditions for recovery from war damage,” Baghaei said, adding that different funding models are being considered, including allocations for reconstruction.
The discussions remain ongoing, and no agreement has been finalised.
Baghaei said ceasefire violations continue in the region, which Iran attributes not only to Israel but also to the United States, alleging breaches on a broad scale.
He added that ceasefire arrangements in Lebanon are expected to form part of any eventual settlement framework.
Baghaei also said US actions are compelling Iran to respond with strikes, while accusing Washington of maintaining contradictory positions that are complicating diplomatic efforts.
