Spokeswoman: Armenia must return property, lands of Azerbaijanis
Ulviyya Zulfugar, the press secretary of the Community of Western Azerbaijan, has said that Armenia must ensure the return of property and lands belonging to Azerbaijanis, and pay compensation for the damage caused.
Armenia must also pay all costs associated with the restoration of Azerbaijani property rights, she stressed, according to Azertag.
The Armenian government is responsible for the violation of the property rights of Azerbaijanis, as well as for all other offenses committed by the Armenian side.
“As for the restoration and preservation of the cultural heritage of Azerbaijan in present-day Armenia, it should be noted that this is an important condition for peace and reconciliation. In this regard, with the participation of specialized UN structures, we will try to assess the state of the cultural heritage of Azerbaijanis in Armenia. A list of damaged and destroyed samples of cultural heritage should be drawn up, and the Armenian government should fulfill its obligation to restore and preserve them,” Zulfugar said.
She added that all Azerbaijanis expelled from the territory of present-day Armenia and their descendants have the right to return to their homeland.
“The community of Western Azerbaijan conducts a census of community members based on international methodology. In the future, we will also make efforts to census Western Azerbaijanis living in other states,” Zulfugar said.
