Strait of Hormuz sees massive daily oil flow, Iranian lawmaker says
14 April 2026 12:20
Approximately 100 vessels and 20 million barrels of oil transit the Strait of Hormuz each day, underscoring the waterway’s critical role in global energy flows, a senior Iranian lawmaker said.
Ali Nikzad, deputy speaker of Iran’s parliament, emphasized the significance of the strategic chokepoint while criticizing US policy toward the country, Iran International reports.
“Enemy miscalculation will lead nowhere. The United States aimed to dominate Iran’s oil and seize 60% of the world’s reserves but failed,” Nikzad said.
The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world’s most vital maritime corridors for oil transportation, linking major producers in the Middle East with global markets.
