Strikes hit petrochemical sites and trade terminal in Iran
Multiple strikes have been reported on industrial and commercial sites in Iran’s Khuzestan province, including petrochemical facilities and a border trade terminal, according to official statements and local media.
The deputy governor of Khuzestan for security affairs said that at 10:45, three separate strikes hit the city of Ahvaz, triggering powerful explosions in both its eastern and western areas. As of now, there are no confirmed reports of casualties or injuries from those incidents.
According to Mizan news agency, further attacks were recorded shortly afterwards. At 10:47, three additional strikes and a large explosion were reported in the Mahshahr petrochemical special economic zone. The scale of the damage has not yet been determined.
“In this attack, the Fajr 1 and 2 petrochemical companies, Regal Petrochemical Company, and Amir Kabir were affected. The likelihood of human casualties, including dead and injured, is very high,” the agency said.
Separately, at 11:00, the Shalamcheh border trade terminal in Khorramshahr was hit in an airstrike, causing significant damage to the facility.
