Strong Armenia bloc casts doubt on parliamentary election results
The figures published by Armenia’s Central Election Commission (CEC) following the parliamentary elections do not reflect the real outcome of the vote, said a statement by Russian businessman and leader of the Strong Armenia bloc, Samvel Karapetyan.
Karapetyan’s statement questioned the reliability of the published results and called for further legal and political assessment of the electoral process, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
“The published figures cannot reflect the real picture and should not be accepted without in-depth study and legal and political assessment,” the statement said.
It added that the bloc is currently analysing the situation in order to determine the true expression of voters’ will.
“The central headquarters of the Strong Armenia bloc is currently analysing the situation and clarifying the real picture of the expression of the voters’ will, after which we will present our position and further steps,” the statement read.
The bloc said it would announce its official position once its internal review of the election process has been completed.
