Sweden commits €100 million in winter aid to Ukraine

02 December 2025 18:03

The Swedish government has announced a new civil aid package to Ukraine worth over 1.1 billion kronor (around €100 million).

The funds are intended to meet urgent needs and enhance the country’s resilience, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Swedish government.

Assistance will cover key requirements for this and future winters, including energy supply, repair and restoration of damaged infrastructure, reforms, and healthcare.

“The government is presenting a new support package focused on the most urgent needs this winter, as well as measures that strengthen Ukraine’s long-term resilience. Sweden continues to do everything possible to support Ukraine,” Minister for International Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade Benjamin Dousa said.

Sweden’s Minister for Energy, Business and Industry Ebba Busch emphasised the importance of support, noting that energy supply is a crucial component of overall defence.

”Together with international partners, we are now increasing support for Ukraine’s energy needs. This not only strengthens Ukraine’s resilience but also the defence of all Europe,” she said.

Since February 2022, Sweden has provided more than SEK 90 billion (around $9.45 billion) in military support to Ukraine — including weapons, armoured vehicles, naval vessels, air defence systems and other materiel aimed at boosting Ukraine’s defence capability.

Sweden has also committed substantial civilian and humanitarian aid: by early 2025, it had delivered over SEK 11.3 billion (around $1.19 billion) in humanitarian and civil support, covering medical aid, generators, fire protection, shelters, support for refugees and reconstruction efforts.

Earlier data (mid 2024) show that total Swedish assistance — combining military, humanitarian, reconstruction and reform support — since 2022 exceeded SEK 52 billion (approximately €4.5 billion).

Sweden has also contributed via multilateral channels: direct financial support to Ukraine’s national budget and cooperation with international organisations for reconstruction, social services, energy infrastructure repairs and crisis management.
