Sweden, Germany respond to Russia's request to investigate Nord Stream explosions
The Swedish Justice Ministry has responded to five requests from the Russian Prosecutor General's Office to investigate explosions at Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines.
The Swedish response to the international legal assistance in the criminal case of the pipeline explosions said that granting the Russian requests "could jeopardise the security of the kingdom, TASS reports, citing a diplomatic source in New York.
"On this basis" the applications are "rejected", the text said.
The source also said that the competent authorities of Germany’s Federal Republic had published a response to a similar request.
"At present, it is not possible to set up a joint incident investigation team and provide any physical evidence," a copy of the document states.
The source said "it is thus clear, and now documented", that statements by Denmark, Germany and Sweden "about allegedly informing the Russian side of the progress of the investigations are untrue".
