Syria rejects any attempts to target embassies or diplomatic premises, FM says
Syria has rejected any attempt to target embassies or diplomatic premises on its territory, saying such facilities are protected under international law, the country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Syrian Arab Republic said on April 4.
In a statement carried by state news agency SANA, the ministry said it “categorically rejects and condemns” any actions or slogans that could harm other states or undermine their standing, adding that such behaviour runs counter to principles of mutual respect and international cooperation.
The ministry also stressed the importance of citizens exercising their right to express opinions in accordance with applicable laws and regulations, while maintaining public security and stability.
It said all parties must refrain from practices that could threaten stability or target embassies and accredited diplomatic missions, describing such premises as symbols of relations between states and peoples.
