Syrian government security forces enter Hasakah
Syrian Internal Security Forces began entering parts of northeastern Syria on the afternoon of February 2, marking the start of the implementation of a new agreement between the Syrian government and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), according to Syrian state-affiliated media.
A Syrian television correspondent reported that a security convoy departed from the city of Al-Shadadi, south of Al-Hasakah, heading toward the Al-Milbiyah area and the town of Al-Hol. The convoy was accompanied by forces from the US-led international coalition and is preparing to enter the city of Al-Hasakah.
Separately, a security source told Syria TV that Internal Security Forces have already entered the Al-Shuyoukh area, located south of the city of Ayn al-Arab (Kobani) in eastern Aleppo province. The source said the forces will be deployed gradually across the area. Preparations have also been completed for the security forces to enter the city of Ayn al-Arab itself, as part of the same agreement.
In parallel with these movements, the SDF imposed a curfew in the city of Al-Hasakah on February 2. A similar curfew is scheduled to take effect in the city of Qamishli on February 3, running from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. local time.
The Syrian government has announced that these developments are part of the implementation of what it described as a “final and comprehensive” agreement with the SDF. The agreement includes a ceasefire and a phased process to integrate military, security, and administrative structures in northeastern Syria into state institutions.
