Tanker Trackers: Iranian crude exports by sea absent over past 28 days Analysis shows
Iran has not successfully exported crude oil by sea over the past 28 days, according to maritime intelligence firm TankerTrackers.com, which monitors global oil shipments using satellite data and vessel tracking.
The company said that, based on its assessment, no Iranian crude cargoes have completed what it defines as an “export” — the movement of a tanker beyond a monitored maritime perimeter without returning with the oil.
However, some shipments of refined petroleum products have still left Iranian waters, which it attributed to the absence of sanctions imposed by the US Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) on certain vessels involved in those trades.
The firm also said no tankers have loaded crude at Kharg Island since May 6, 2026, linking the disruption to an oil leak at the export terminal. Tehran has denied that any such incident occurred.
Despite the reported slowdown in exports, several tankers remain positioned both inside and outside the blockade monitoring zone, including cargo-laden vessels assembled not far from Pakistan.
