Tasnim: Iran Navy forces US oil tanker to turn back in Hormuz
Iran’s IRGC-affiliated Tasnim news agency, citing a military source, reported that a US oil tanker attempted to pass through the Strait of Hormuz with its radar system switched off but was forced to halt and turn back after what was described as a rapid response by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy.
According to the source, the IRGC Navy fired toward the vessel in what Tasnim characterized as a “swift and decisive response,” prompting the tanker to change course.
The source further claimed that the United States subsequently struck a “burnt area” near Bandar Abbas. According to the report, the explosions heard in the area were linked to the incident.
Tasnim quoted the source as saying that the alleged US strike caused no casualties or material damage.
No independent confirmation of the claims has been reported so far.
