Tasnim: Tehran’s Hormuz demands reach Washington via Pakistan

25 August 2026 18:10

Iran has conveyed its position and conditions regarding the situation in the Strait of Hormuz to Pakistan for subsequent transmission to the United States, Iranian news agency Tasnim reports.

The agency, which is considered close to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), cited a source familiar with Tehran’s negotiating team.

According to the source, Pakistani Army Chief Asim Munir, who visited Iran on August 24, did not deliver any threats or similar messages from Washington. Instead, his visit was intended to help facilitate the resumption of negotiations between Iran and the United States.

“Iran’s position was clearly conveyed to the Pakistani side,” the source said.

One of Tehran’s key demands is that Washington return to implementing the provisions of the Islamabad memorandum.

Pakistan is now working to convey Iran’s conditions to the US administration as diplomatic efforts continue to revive negotiations between the two sides.
