Tbilisi Court of Appeals confirms former president's embezzlement sentence

The Tbilisi Court of Appeals has upheld the conviction of former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili in a high-profile case concerning the embezzlement of state funds totaling 9 million Georgian lari (approximately $3.3 million), Georgian media reports.

“The Court of Appeals has upheld the decision of the Tbilisi City Court in the case concerning Saakashvili’s embezzlement of state funds,” the court stated.
