Tehran accuses UAE of aligning with "aggressors"
Tehran has sharply accused the United Arab Emirates of siding with Iran’s adversaries, escalating already strained regional relations.
Speaking on May 4, Iran’s foreign ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said Abu Dhabi had engaged in what he described as “inappropriate behaviour” over the past several weeks, Caliber.Az reports, citing Iranian media.
“We have witnessed inappropriate behaviour by the United Arab Emirates over the past 50 days, including its alignment with the aggressors, which created many problems, and we hope countries in the region have learned the necessary lessons from these developments,” he said.
He also criticised the UAE’s decision to withdraw from the Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries, describing the move as unhelpful to regional coordination on energy policy.
