Tehran endorses Armenia’s “Crossroads of Peace” initiative at ambassadorial meeting in Yerevan
Iran’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Armenia, Khalil Shirgolami, said during a meeting with Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan that Tehran supports Armenia’s “Crossroads of Peace” initiative.
As reported by Caliber.Az, citing Armenian media, the meeting took place as the Iranian envoy formally presented his credentials to the Armenian president.
According to the press service of the Armenian president, Khachaturyan expressed hope that the work of the newly appointed ambassador would contribute to the further strengthening and development of bilateral relations between Armenia and Iran.
During the talks, the two sides discussed issues related to multilateral cooperation, the implementation of regional projects, and the need to make full use of the existing potential in bilateral ties.
Shirgolami emphasised that Iran supports efforts aimed at establishing lasting peace and security in the region and reaffirmed Tehran’s backing for Armenia’s “Crossroads of Peace” initiative.
The meeting also focused on prospects for expanding cooperation in the fields of high technology, infrastructure, and energy. Both sides confirmed their mutual interest in the consistent development of bilateral relations and in identifying and developing new areas of cooperation.
