Tehran holds suspect over Mossad cyber spy case
A man has been detained in Tehran on suspicion of espionage, Iranian authorities said, with the arrest carried out by the country’s information security unit in a targeted operation.
Authorities said an examination of the man’s mobile phone allegedly revealed materials indicating contacts on Telegram with what they described as a “hostile network” and possible links to Mossad, as well as communications with an individual based abroad, Caliber.Az reports via Iranian media.
Investigators also claimed the correspondence may be connected to the planning of a potential bioterrorism-related operation during upcoming events.
Officials further stated that the suspect may have been motivated by an intention to leave Iran.
The case remains under investigation, and authorities say the collected evidence is still being verified.
