Tehran mayor reveals new details about strike on Khamenei’s residence

Tehran Mayor Alireza Zakani has revealed new details about the strike on Iranian Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei’s residence on February 27. According to him, the attack struck the floor directly where Khamenei and his wife, Zahra Haddad Adel, were at the time.

Zakani claimed that Zahra had stayed at home because of a severe headache and did not leave in time for the school where she worked as a teacher. As a result, she was killed in the strike. Mojtaba Khamenei sustained only “minor” injuries, the mayor added.

The account contradicts earlier reports about Zahra Haddad Adel’s death. According to the previous version, she was killed in a strike on the Supreme Leader’s office, along with other members of the late Ali Khamenei’s family.

Earlier, Mohsen Qomi, deputy head of the office for international affairs, also said that Mojtaba Khamenei was inside the building during the attack. However, he managed to leave for the courtyard several minutes before the strike, which allowed him to survive.
