Tehran rally displays mock coffins of top US military officials photo
At a government-organised rally in Tehran commemorating 22 fallen individuals in Bahman, Iranian media reported that mock coffins draped with American flags were displayed, bearing the names and photos of several senior U.S. military officials.
According to Iran International, the coffins featured, among others, Brad Cooper, commander of U.S. Central Command; Randy George, Chief of Staff of the U.S. Army; and Curtis R. Bass, Deputy Commander of the 9th Air Force (U.S. Air Forces Central Command) and Deputy Commander of U.S. Central Command Air Forces.
The display coincided with ongoing U.S.-Iran diplomatic activity. On February 6, Cooper participated in talks in Oman as part of a U.S. delegation engaged in negotiations with the Islamic Republic.
The rally was held on the occasion of the 47th anniversary of the 1979 events in Iran, when the monarchy was overthrown, and Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei assumed power.
