24 March 2026 09:52
Iran has stated that it sees no need to mine areas of the Persian Gulf, asserting that Tehran maintains full control over both the Gulf and the strategic Strait of Hormuz.
Ebrahim Zolfaghari, spokesperson for Iran's Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, emphasized Tehran’s firm grip on the region, Tasnim reports.
“Iran exercises very smart and strong control over the Strait of Hormuz. Due to sufficient control and strength, there is no need to mine the Persian Gulf,” Zolfaghari said.
He added that Iran will employ all available measures to ensure regional security and stressed that, at present, initiative in the Persian Gulf remains firmly in the hands of Iranian forces.
