Tehran says Iranian military programme purely defensive
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanani (Chaffee) has said that the national military programme is purely defensive and preventive.
"Iran's military programme is purely defensive and deterrent," Gazeta.ru quotes the Foreign Ministry's statement published on Telegram.
In this way, he reacted to a statement by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, who had previously argued that the United States was committed to disrupting Tehran's defense purchases and systematically identifying Iranian organisations that cause destabilisation.
“The provocative statements of the US Secretary of State in connection with Iran’s military programme are only aimed at continuing the marketing of American weapons by fomenting a failed Iranophobia project,” Kanani stressed.
According to him, the national military programme is not directed against countries that do not intend to attack Iran.
