Tehran warns it will respond if “dignity is threatened”
01 May 2026 14:39
Gholamhossein Mohseni-Ejei, head of the judiciary in Iran, said the country does not seek war but is prepared to respond if threatened, while stressing that any negotiations must take place without pressure.
Speaking on Friday, May 1, Mohseni-Ejei said authorities remain open to dialogue, but only under conditions free of coercion. He also warned that legal action would continue in response to attacks and that external actors would not be able to dictate terms through pressure.
“We do not welcome war, but we are not afraid of it; if our dignity is threatened, we will fight,” he said.
He added that negotiations are acceptable only “without coercion,” emphasising that Iran would not accept imposed conditions.
