Tehran, Yerevan to create joint working group on transit tariffs
Armenia and Iran have agreed to set up a joint working group tasked with reviewing transit freight tariffs.
The agreement was reached during talks in Yerevan on August 18 between Armenian Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure David Khudatyan and Iranian Minister of Roads and Urban Development Farzaneh Sadegh, according to Armenian media reports cited by Caliber.Az.
The Iranian delegation travelled to Armenia as part of the official visit of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.
Alongside transit tariffs, the two sides also discussed the expansion of air connectivity. The Armenian side voiced particular interest in increasing the number of regular flights to Iranian cities, pointing to high passenger demand on the route.
The ministers further addressed progress on the construction of the North–South highway section. Khudatyan stated that Armenia is satisfied with the current pace of work and expressed high appreciation for the efforts of the Iranian contractor involved in the project.
