Tensions escalate: Iran poised for imminent strike on Israel
US and Israeli officials say that Iran is going to launch an attack on Israel in the coming hours, a day after Israeli forces launched a rare ground invasion of southern Lebanon aimed at crippling the Iranian-backed militia Hezbollah there.
The Israeli military said that Israel had been informed about preparations for the attack by the US government, Caliber.Az reports citing foreign media.
A senior White House official said the United States was “actively supporting defensive preparations to defend Israel against this attack,” warning that a direct attack against Israel “will carry severe consequences for Iran.”
The warning has triggered a high-alert response from the US Embassy, which has advised its personnel to prepare for immediate evacuation and seek shelter.
This potential escalation follows a previous air attack by Iran on Israel in April, marking a significant rise in hostilities in the region.
Officials have raised concerns about the implications of this looming strike, highlighting the volatility of the situation and the risk of broader conflict.
The US government's decision to order its employees back home underscores the seriousness of the threat, as tensions continue to mount between the two nations.
The international community watches closely as the clock ticks down to what could be a pivotal moment in Middle Eastern geopolitics. As night approaches, both Israeli and Iranian military forces are on high alert, anticipating potential retaliation and preparing for various scenarios.
