Test flight ends with drone crashing into house in Tatarstan VIDEO
A drone developed by the Ural Civil Aviation Plant (UZGA) crashed on the grounds of a private residence in Tatarstan during a test flight, the company’s press service has confirmed.
The unmanned aerial vehicle, known as the Altius, was conducting a routine test flight in Kazan on the morning of July 8, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
According to a UZGA representative, the takeoff from the base airfield proceeded normally.
However, during the flight, satellite navigation was disrupted by unidentified external electronic warfare (EW) measures. The drone continued to operate using its inertial navigation system. To prepare for landing, the aircraft was placed in a holding pattern, but an abnormal situation occurred during the inertial-mode landing, resulting in the crash.
Preliminary reports indicate that there were no casualties.
The Altius is a reconnaissance and strike drone project with a weight of approximately six tons.
