Thailand secures Iran deal for safe tanker passage through Hormuz
28 March 2026 09:59
Thailand has reached an agreement with Iran to ensure the safe passage of Thai oil tankers through the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz, Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul said.
Speaking at a press conference, Charnvirakul confirmed that the arrangement is intended to safeguard Thailand’s energy supply routes amid heightened regional tensions.
“An agreement has been reached allowing Thai oil tankers to safely pass through the Strait of Hormuz,” he said.
He added that the deal is expected to reduce concerns over fuel imports, as the waterway remains a critical corridor for global oil shipments.
