Thales Alenia Space suspends work on project in Russia
Franco-Italian company Thales Alenia Space, engaged in the development of satellite systems, has suspended work on the project in Russia.
The company explained this by "force majeure," La Repubblica newspaper said.
In Thales Alenia Space said that anti-Russian sanctions prevent the export of necessary equipment and installation works. However, the company expects to be able to resume work on the project, TASS reported.
In 2013, Thales Alenia Space France won the order to produce the Yamal-601 telecommunication satellite worth over 10 billion rubles for Gazprom Space Systems. In 2019, Gazprom and Thales Alenia Space signed an agreement to jointly produce "competitive spacecraft using advanced European technologies" in Russia. Thales Alenia Space was to take part in a project to build an assembly facility for civilian spacecraft in the Moscow region.
