Three children die in house fire in Kazakhstan

Three children from the same family died in a house fire in Kazakhstan’s Eskeldin District, local residents say.

The victims were a one-year-old, a five-year-old and an eight-year-old child. Their 14-year-old sibling managed to escape the burning house, Kazakh media reports.

The fire broke out on the morning of September 25 in a row house in the village of Baktybay, where four families lived. One neighbour managed to pull the five-year-old child through a window but was unable to save him.

The fire completely destroyed one apartment, while the roofs of two other apartments collapsed. A fourth apartment is reportedly at risk of collapse.

The three children were buried on September 26. Their mother is reportedly in critical condition.
