Three Iran taekwondo federation members killed in Israeli strikes
The Iran Taekwondo Federation has confirmed that three of its members were killed in recent Israeli airstrikes on Tehran, as reports of casualties continue to emerge from the attacks.
In a statement, the federation identified the deceased as Amir Ali Amini, a national athlete on Iran’s Junior Taekwondo Team; Mir Ali Amini, a teenage member of the federation; and Hojatoleslam Ahmadpour, who served as the federation’s imam, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.
Several Iranian media outlets reported the deaths on June 14, though the full scope of casualties from the Israeli strikes remains unclear.
Israel launched a massive assault on Iran’s nuclear and military infrastructure on June 13, using warplanes and smuggled drones to strike key sites and kill senior generals and scientists in a bid to halt Iran’s atomic progress. In response, Iran fired dozens of ballistic missiles at Israel, prompting explosions over Jerusalem and Tel Aviv.
