Türkiiye has hosted a signing ceremony for the construction of three new ships as part of the MİLGEM İSTİF (I) Class Frigate project, which is a continuation of the MİLGEM Ada class project for the navy by the Defence Industries.
President of the Defence Industries Ismail Demir attended the signing ceremony and said that in the project, which will be implemented in partnership with STM-TAIS, it is planned that each of the shipyards Anadolu, Sedef and Sefine will simultaneously build a Class I frigate in 36 months.
According to Caliber.Az, Defence Turk announced this on its Twitter page.
All sensors and weapons systems of the ISTIF class frigates have been developed at the national level and will be equipped with domestic air defence systems.
Also, national systems will be continued in many areas, such as the nose gun, the helicopter capture system and various components of the main power plant.
National solutions such as the Gökdeniz short-range air defence system, Cenk-S three-dimensional search radar, Scorpion fire control radar, illumination radar, torpedo tube, MIDLAS national vertical launch system, Hisar-D will take place on all three ships.

The MİLGEM İ-Class frigate project, which differs from the ADA-class corvettes in its structure, is crucial for the Turkish defence industry as the electronic equipment and weapons systems it will carry are mostly domestically produced.
The first domestic frigates, lengthened by 10 meters due to changes in equipment and additions made to weapons systems according to the ADA class, have a displacement of 3,100 tonnes, a length of 113 meters and a width of 14.4 meters. The MİLGEM İ class frigate differs from the ADA class corvettes by the ability to install guided air defence missiles.
