Three prosecutors resign in Armenia They were involved in ex-presidents' cases
Prosecutors involved in the investigation cases of former Armenian presidents have written resignation letters.
Armenian Deputy Prosecutor General Gevorg Baghdasaryan and Prosecutor Petros Petrosyan, who had been involved in Robert Kocharyan's case, as well as Prosecutor Arsen Martirosyan, who had been overseeing the case of Serzh Sargsyan, have resigned, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.
The reasons have not been reported and there is no official confirmation either. Armenia’s General Prosecutor's Office has not yet commented on the information.
In 2019, Armenia’s ex-president Serzh Sargsyan was charged with plundering and embezzlement of state funds in the amount of 489 million drams [about $1 million] in the so-called “diesel case”. In January 2020, the preliminary investigation was completed, and the case was sent to court.
