Three teenage girls killed in road accident in France
Three girls aged 13, 14, and 15 were killed overnight on April 18 in a road accident in the Haute-Loire department of France.
According to BFM, four other people were injured, three of them in critical condition.
The crash occurred at around 2:00 a.m. local time on the RN88 highway between Saint-Ferréol-d’Auroure and Firminy. Emergency services reported that one vehicle collided with the rear of another. All seven victims were in the car where the fatalities occurred.
Among the injured are a 20-year-old man and two 18-year-olds, all hospitalised in serious condition. Another 14-year-old girl sustained moderate injuries.
The driver of the second vehicle, a man in his early twenties, was unharmed. According to the prosecutor’s office in Le Puy-en-Velay, he tested positive for alcohol and has been taken into custody. An investigation has been opened on charges of vehicular homicide and causing injury through negligence.
Preliminary reports suggest the car carrying the teenagers may have been moving at low speed, possibly due to a malfunction. The circumstances of the accident are under investigation.
