Tokayev highlights EAEU’s role as key platform for Eurasian integration
Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has underlined the importance of the Eurasian Economic Union as a central mechanism for regional cooperation among its member states.
Speaking at a narrow-format meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council in Astana, Tokayev said the bloc had developed into a key platform for interaction across the region, according to TASS.
“On this very day, 29 May 2014, the Treaty on the Eurasian Economic Union was signed in the capital of Kazakhstan,” he said, marking what he described as a milestone in Eurasian integration.
He added that over the past years, the Eurasian Economic Union had evolved into an “important platform for cooperation and interaction of the ‘Eurasian Five’.”
Tokayev congratulated participants on the Day of the EAEU and expressed hope that the integration bloc would continue to develop in a way that benefits member countries and their populations.
