Tragic landslide in Türkiye's Samsun claims lives of father and two daughters PHOTO

Late on April 27, a devastating landslide occurred in the Canik municipality of Samsun city, Türkiye, resulting in the tragic deaths of a father and his two young daughters.

The landslide, which occurred around 11:00 PM, sent large boulders crashing down onto a car wash situated near a shopping centre along the Samsun-Ordu highway. Emergency services, including AFAD, fire department, police, and medical teams, quickly arrived at the scene following the distress call, Caliber.Az reports, citing Turkish media.

Rescue teams were able to extract the family members trapped beneath the rubble. Çiğdem Kaya, the 31-year-old mother, was rescued with serious injuries, including fractures to her feet. She was rushed to a nearby hospital for surgery. Tragically, her husband, Adem Kaya, and their two children, 7-year-old Ayla Kaya and 5-year-old Acelia Lina Kaya, were found dead after being pulled from under the debris.

The authorities are continuing their investigation into the causes of the landslide. The community has been left in shock by the loss of this family, as rescue operations continue.

Çiğdem Kaya's condition is reported to be stable after undergoing surgery, and she is receiving care at the Samsun hospital.
