18 September 2025 09:01

Three people lost their lives in a fatal collision between a passenger train and a car in the Karaganda region, the national railway company Kazakhstan Temir Zholy reported.

The accident took place on the Akadyr–Karaganda section, between Zharik and Daria stations, at an unguarded regulated railway crossing, Caliber.Az reports, citing Kazakh media.

According to the company’s statement, the passenger train was moving at a speed of 92 km/h when a Mazda entered the tracks. Despite the driver’s attempt to apply the emergency brakes, the collision could not be avoided.

As a result, the driver of the car and two passengers sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene. Kazakhstan Temir Zholy expressed its condolences to the victims’ families and friends.

The railway company confirmed that information regarding the incident has been handed over to law enforcement agencies for further investigation.
