Train derailment in Cumbria, North West England triggers major incident response No Injuries Reported
A major incident has been declared in Cumbria, North West England, after a train derailed near Shap early on November 3, prompting a large-scale emergency response.
British Transport Police said officers were called to the scene at around 6:15 am following reports that a train had come off the tracks, Caliber.Az reports.
“Thankfully, there are no reported casualties and passengers have been safely escorted from the train,” a police spokesperson said. “Officers remain on scene alongside emergency services responding to the incident.”
Paramedics and fire crews were dispatched to the area, and rail services across the region have been heavily affected.
National Rail warned of delays up to 120 minutes or cancellations between Carlisle and Preston, with bus replacements in place where possible. Travellers reported longer journeys via alternative routes, adding hours to commutes and connections.
