Trial against former Armenian MP for insurrection calls kicks off in Yerevan

The first court hearing in the case against the former member of Armenia's National Assembly, Ruben Akopyan, is being held in Yerevan on August 27, who stands accused of publicly calling for the overthrow of the government.

Armenian media outlets recall that he was placed under arrest in July 2025 following his statements during a public interview, Caliber.Az reports.

Media outlets note that the issue of confirming the preventive measure for Ruben Akopyan will most likely also be considered at today’s hearing.
