Trump announces rescue of second F-15 pilot in Iran “WE GOT HIM!”
U.S. special forces located the second crew member of an F-15 fighter jet shot down over Iran earlier this week, President Donald Trump announced on his social media platform, Truth Social.
Trump described the operation as one of the boldest search-and-rescue missions in U.S. history. According to him, the crew member of the downed F-15 was behind enemy lines in the mountains of Iran.
“At my direction, the U.S. Military sent dozens of aircraft, armed with the most lethal weapons in the World, to retrieve him. He sustained injuries, but he will be just fine,” Trump emphasised.
He added that the other pilot had been rescued the day before. The information had not been disclosed earlier to avoid compromising the operation for the second crew member.
“This is the first time in military memory that two U.S. Pilots have been rescued, separately, deep in Enemy Territory. WE WILL NEVER LEAVE AN AMERICAN WARFIGHTER BEHIND!” Trump said.
According to The Telegraph, both crew members of the F-15 ejected over Iranian territory. One was located quickly, while finding the second required more time. The U.S. military and Iranian security forces effectively raced to locate the second pilot, with Tehran reportedly offering a $60,000 reward.
